Unearthing I, II, III

Unearthing I, II, III

Unearthing I, II, III is an installation and video essay that explores suspended states of life through animals and landscapes that preserve and redistribute organic and inorganic matter. Outer space, technology, glaciers, subterranean decay, insects, and marine life work holistically to impose isolation and reunion between humans, each other, and the environment. Text and images by Rebecca Nakaba. Music composed, performed, and recorded by Atticus Lazenby.

Unearthing I, II, III was part of a show co-curated with Natasha Mijares titled Animals in Space: A Collective Memoir installed at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2018.

The video essay iteration of this piece was exhibited online at The Center for Humans and Nature, and published in TriQuarterly in their winter 2019/2020 issue.
